Hey there Honey's and New-Bees!

 

A couple of years ago I decided it was time to stop relying on take-out, restaurants, and processed foods, and time to start eating real, home-cooked food. So I went out, bought a stack of cookbooks and figured I’d be a master chef in no time.  

Well, things didn’t go exactly as planned… I did start “cooking”, and although the food was edible, it was just that… and sometimes barely that…

After a couple of horrific attempts I was totally discouraged and ready to throw in the towel and give up. But that’s not me and I didn’t give up – instead I took  a step back and realized where I went wrong; I took on too much at once. Although I had a bunch recipes to follow, what I really needed was to learn the fundamentals of cooking first, and take things one step at a time. That also meant starting with simpler meals, mastering those, then gradually incorporating/learning new skills individually, rather than all at once.

I’m Bee, a self taught home cook living in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, who is passionate about cooking and taking control of my health and diet/lifestyle. I believe that everyone has the potential to be a great cook, but many of us just needs a little help and guidance when starting out. I’ve been really lucky to have some wonderful people in my life who have taken me under their wings and taught me the important fundamentals I needed too grow and become the cook I am today. My purpose here is to pay forward the skills and lessons I’ve been taught over the years (both in and out of the kitchen) to help others like you gain the skills and confidence you need in the kitchen to enjoy good wholesome food, and live a healthier, happier lifestyle. 

Learning is an on-going process, and I really look forward to helping you grow throughout your culinary journey as well as grow with you, so please let me know how your  dishes turned out and share what tips and tricks you’ve learned with the rest of us!
