Notes
Hey there Honey's and New-Bees!
Last Christmas I went a little overboard on eggnog and had way more than I could possible drink on its own, so I started playing around with it in the kitchen to see what I could come up with. Throughout the process I had a couple of flops, BUT I did come up with some pretty nifty successes, one of which was Eggnog Hot Chocolate topped with homemade peppermint marshmallows; which basically tasted like Christmas in a mug! It was wonderful and now as the holidays are quickly approaching and eggnog has made its appearance in the grocery stores again, I couldnβt resist the urge to share this amazing recipe with you.Β
This year Iβm planning to make my own eggnog from scratch and hopefully Iβll be able to share the experience and recipe before the holidays. In the meantime I hope you enjoy this recipe and please let me know how it turned out for youπ
Step 1 –Β Combine Most of Your Ingredients

Combine your eggnog and milk in a high-walled sauce pan then gradually whisk in your cocoa. Youβll notice that the cocoa might look clumpy and that its not blending well with your dairy, but donβt worry it will blend in nicely once you start warming it up π.
Step 2 –Β Add your Chocolate

Transfer your pot to the stove and set it to medium-low heat to start warming up your cocoa, and make sure to stir continuously to prevent the milk from burning . As everything warms up you’ll notice that the cocoa powder will now start to dissolve and blend in smoothly with the dairy.
Once your dairy is slightly warmed add your chocolate. I like to break the chocolate up into smaller pieces prior to adding it to the sauce pan, as I find it melts more evenly and makes it easier to stir.
Step 3 –Β Cool and Top

Once all of your chocolate has melted, remove your cocoa from the heat and let it cool for about 5 minutes before transferring to mugs. Top with marshmallow (preferably peppermint marshmallow), a little grated chocolate, crushed candy cane, and enjoy!
